The Organizing Committee will assist the Executive Board by formulating and actively supporting programs to recruit members.
-Assist VPs, Chief Stewards and Stewards with membership initiatives
-Initiate and develop “Membership Has Its Privileges” program
-Plan events and activities
Committee on Political Education (COPE)/Political Action Committee (PAC) Legislative Committee
The Committee On Political Education (COPE)/Political Action Committee (PAC)/Legislative Committee will assist the Executive Board in carrying out a program of political education and action and will encourage members to register and vote. The committee will research and recommend legislation of interest to the members. This committee will also make recommendations to the Executive Board for endorsements of candidates for elective offices and ballot measures of interest to the members. In making recommendations to the Executive Board for endorsement of, or any action with respect to any candidate or incumbent elected official, this committee will hold accountable a candidate or elected official in how they have interacted with the membership, including but not limited to, by how they voted on a Collective Bargaining Agreement, conducted themselves during bargaining and had labor relations with membership.
Monitor local, state and federal candidacies for potential endorsement
Research and formulate positions on relevant legislation at the state and local levels.
The Bylaws Committee will assist the Executive Board by reviewing and making recommendations on the Local Union Bylaws and any Chapter Bylaws which shall and must be submitted for approval to the Executive Board before presentation to and vote upon the appropriate respective membership and before becoming operational. The Bylaws Committee will also assist the Executive Board by review of and recommendation on all bylaws of this Local Union and its Chapters at least every three (3) years.
Update the Constitution and Bylaws for Constitutional Convention in Fall of 2017
Civil and Human Rights Committee
The Civil and Human Rights Committee will assist the Executive Board in carrying out the Civil and Human Rights programs and policies of both the International and Local Union.
Activate International caucus (i.e. Lavender Caucus, African-American Caucus, Latino Caucus, etc.)
Initiate and execute community events and involvement
The Communications Committee will assist the Executive Board in communications to the membership and public relations for the Local Union.
Work with the Communications Director
Create and train a Speakers Bureau
Participate in communcation initiatives such as letter writing, social media messaging C
Conduct Rapid Response and other communication training for members
