NNRH Hospital Staff Unite Together
Service staff and techs have united with RNs to stand up against recent changes to the health insurance plan at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. In January the hospital switched to an insurance plan that numerous doctors in Elko—including the only cardiologist and urologist in town—will not accept.
In some cases the nearest specialist who accepts the plan is a four-hour-drive away from people’s homes. RNs, service staff, and techs signed a petition calling on the hospital to offer insurance that actually provides coverage and services. This was the largest number of health care workers ever to unite together in Elko.
Hospital workers delivered the petition to CEO David Henson’s office on April 29. Service staff and techs are about to begin bargaining their first contract.
