Las Vegas, NV – On Saturday, Oct. 20 at 10:30 am, the first day of Nevada’s Early Voting, candidates will rally with scores of nurses, healthcare workers and public service workers. SEIU Nevada and the Asian Pacific American Labor Allianceare building a powerful political voice for working people in local, state and national politics. Since the spring, union members have been participating in phone banks, canvassing events and more in support of pro-worker candidates.

“I am type-1 diabetic, and I wouldn’t be alive if it wasn’t for my health insurance – I’m one of the lucky ones. That is why we need to elect candidates who understand that affordable health care is a necessity,” said Roxana Valladares, Legal Office Assistant, Clark County.

Opportunities will be available to speak to candidates, caregivers and public service workers.

SEIU Nevada Local 1107 represents 19,000 workers in the healthcare and public sector across the entire state – from Reno to Elko in Northern Nevada, and across Clark County in Southern Nevada. We are leading the largest movement of healthcare & public workers in Nevada. Our members include nurses, administrative staff, ancillary hospital staff, techs, and homecare workers. In the public sector, our union represents workers that provide vital services that our communities rely on. Together, SEIU Nevada Local 1107 members fight for better wages, benefits, social justice, and a better quality of life for all working Nevadans.

Founded in 1992, the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance (APALA), AFL-CIO, is the first and only national organization of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) workers, most of whom are union members and our allies, building power for AAPI workers and communities.
