Dressed in purple T-shirts, and holding signs that read “Fair Wages Now” and “We Keep the County Running,” SEIU Local 1107 members converged at the Clark County Board of Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, January 6, to demand a fair wage increase. The last bargaining session with management concluded with an agreement on the Posting of Vacancies (Article 17), yet the County refused to offer anything above two percent.
In a recent bargaining session, our bargaining team asked management why managers received a 4% increase. They were told it was because managers do exemplary work. However, when asked if employees were exemplary, management said we were NOT exemplary.
Dozens of members filled the front rows at Tuesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting. Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, and Clark County Bargaining Team member Bob Costello, called on the Commissioners to direct county management to listen to our fair wage proposal.
“We are ALSO exemplary. We provide valuable services that Clark County residents depend on. We keep this county running,” said Costello.
