Jody Domineck, Secretary-Treasurer of SEIU Local 1107 and a nurse at Sunrise Hospital, spoke at a vigil in downtown Las Vegas honoring the life of Alex Pretti.
Pretti served as an intensive care nurse for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, dedicating his work to caring for veterans and supporting those who served our country.
The vigil was organized by AFGE Local 1224, the Nevada State AFL-CIO, and SEIU Local 1107. Union members, labor leaders, and community allies gathered in downtown Las Vegas to mourn his passing and recognize his service as a healthcare worker.
During the gathering, Domineck spoke about the importance of solidarity among healthcare workers and across the labor movement. Attendees held vigil signs and stood together in remembrance of a nurse who dedicated his career to caring for veterans.
Pretti also had deep ties to organized labor. He was the son of a member of AFGE Local 3669, reflecting a family connection to the labor movement.
The vigil served as a moment for Nevada’s labor community to come together in respect and reflection, honoring the life and service of a healthcare worker who cared for those who served our country.
