On October 7, SEIU Local 1107 President Michelle Maese and SEIU Nursing Chief Steward Elizabeth Bolhouse spoke before the Board of County Commissioners to defend UMC jobs and advocate for the workers who keep our public hospital running strong.

Immediately following the meeting, SEIU 1107 leaders met with UMC administration alongside union members to identify financial solutions that protect jobs and patient care. Our members actively contributed to the discussion, offering practical ideas to ensure that UMC continues to serve our community without sacrificing frontline positions.

The latest labor-management meeting was scheduled for November 12, where we continued to push for accountability, transparency, and respect for UMC workers.

Together, we’re showing what it means to stand united and fight for Nevada’s public hospital and the people who make it possible.

SEIU Local 1107 will continue to keep members informed and updated as talks with UMC leadership move forward.

The fight to protect UMC jobs has gained public attention. Both the Las Vegas Review-Journal and FOX5 News have covered SEIU Local 1107’s efforts to hold UMC leadership accountable and defend frontline workers. Reporters from KLAS Channel 8 News also spoke with us this morning.

Check out the coverage below to learn more about how our union is standing up for SEIU Local 1107 members and the workers who make quality care possible.
